It is time to take action! You have a chance to help make California a more prosperous state by urging the state legislature to take steps to end poverty. Every effort counts in this difficult fight. Please help us pass AB 271, AB 10.

Passing AB 271 will end severe punishments for children who are born poor! By continuing the Maximum Family Grant rule, we are endangering children who are living in poverty and making them more likely to be impoverished when they are adults.

Passing AB 10 will raise the minimum wage to $8.25 per hour in 2014, with several increases after that up to $10 per hour in 2018. This increase does not allow a minimum wage that is a Livable Wage for a single adult. This is a crucial first step that must be taken now.

Call and urge Senator De Leon, Chairman of the Senate Appropriations committee to vote yes on AB 271(Mitchell) and AB 10 (Alejo), and to move the bills to full Senate votes.

Please call (916) 651-4022

Sample Script: Hi, my name is ________ and I am calling to urge the Senator to support AB 271 and AB 10, which are in the Senate Appropriations Committee this week.  AB 271 repeals the Maximum Family Grant  rule, which makes very poor children even poorer and inappropriately dictates women’s reproductive choices. AB 10 will raise the minimum wage to $8.25 per hour in 2014. California needs a livable wage, this is a small step towards that. Please support AB 271 and AB 10 and vote yes to move these bills to full Senate votes! Thank you.
