San Francisco Votes to “Ban the Box”

February 4, 2014

San Francisco members of California Partnership rallied today as the SF County and City Board of Supervisors voted to pass the “fair chance” ordinance- a set of policies removing barriers to housing and private sector employment for formerly incarcerated people in the city. This will be the first such ordinance extending beyond public sector employment for any city in the country, and thanks to the strong organizing of our member organizations community housing partnership, All of Us or None, and others, is expected to receive a unanimous vote from the board next Tuesday before heading to the Mayor’s desk.
