ACTION ALERT!
Call the Governor to
SAVE CALWORKS FUNDING
Good News! The budget conference committee passed the CalWORKs plan with $100 million in new funds for up front engagement, sanction reduction, work study and employment training money. These funds would be used to help identify barriers to engagement, increase training and education, reduce sanctions and help more families move toward real self-sufficiency.
Help! The conference committee budget compromise now goes to both the Assembly and Senate floor for a vote. Then the Governor must sign the budget bill. California’s low-income families need our help to make sure this happens.

We support the conference committee’s CalWORKs proposal and the increased funding to help more families get the education, training and services they need to become self-sufficient. California has failed families by not adequately funding CalWORKs. If California is to meet federal work participation requirements, we must do so by improving CalWORKs now.
We urge you to support the conference committee’s compromise for the CalWORKs plan.
