Senator Ricardo Lara Health4All Symposium, Riverside Visit March 2016

We had over 50 people from High Desert, Riverside Moreno Valley, Perris, Ontario, San Bernardino, Coachella Valley, and Pomona area group of unions, service providers, grassroots groups, civic groups, immigrant/youth groups, and faith coalition groups. Not only did we have Senator Lara but we had IE State reps from the offices of Senator Roth, Asm Jose Medina and Asm Eric Linder. Organizations present were Inland Coalition for Immigrant Justice, United Domestic Workers, IE- IYC, Inland Congregations United for Change, Inland Coalition, LULAC of Riverside, LULAC of IE, Comite Latino, Clinicas de Salud de Pueblo, TODEC, Latino/a Roundtable of Pomona/San Gabriel Valley and Lideres Campesinas. Take aways Senator Lara is committed to Health for All kids implementation and Sb 10 "Health for All". Also there we conversations of building our Health for All movement, the importance of the Latino vote, form alliances with the African American community, and to reach out Republicans to get Health for All to pass. Luz Gallegos also gave accolades to Senator Roth Health for All's leadership. Senator Lara reiterated what Luz said and gave an example of his commitnent and said Senator Roth told him after his Senate Health Committee vote, Sen Lara said that Roth said to him that voting for Health for All was the right thing to do and if it costs him his reelection so be it. As for the IE state reps, Senator Roth's office said he is still committed to support Health for All. Asm Jose Medina and Asm Eric Linder's district staff will relay what was discussed.
